You know the drill by now. This year’s instalment of Open Source Festival is just around the corner and promises to be as live as ever. Located at a picturesque racecourse near the heart of Düsseldorf, this year’s one-day event comes with an equally impressive line-up, including the likes of a Scandinavian melancholic techno impresario Trentemøller, Canadian electronic music project Austra, German hip hop and more pop anarchists Antilopen Gang as well as the Hamburg based indie-rock legends Die Sterne.
Open Source will also see a stage presented by Carhartt WIP and adorned by artwork from Tim Berresheim, as part of a wider collaboration with the Aachen-based visual artist. On the bill for the Carhartt stage are agile British production duo Mount Kimbie, London-born sonic futurist Gaika, Düsseldorf based pop duo BAR or Illa J, a prodigious Detroit beatmaker/rapper and brother of the legendary J Dilla. (Look out for our forthcoming Carhartt WIP Radio show on Jakarta Records, as well as his soon-to-be released album Home.)
As ever, Open Source will be a compelling clash of music, art and culture – and we hope to see you there.
