Since it first began adapting workwear originals in the early 1990s, Carhartt WIP’s outerwear offering has maintained a focus on understated silhouettes, fabricated in robust materials and accented by detailing that adds to each garment’s longevity.

This accounts for many of the brand’s classic pieces, like the Active Jacket, Detroit Jacket, Michigan Coat. Typically, these staples will be offered each season in hardwearing Dearborn Canvas, which is constructed from organic cotton, as well as other fabrics or treatments that offer new perspectives on these iconic items. Seasonality also comes into play, with diamond quilted linings added to these items for the colder months, while more lightweight options appear in the summer.

The brand’s work jacket selection is, however, not limited to reworked classics. New garments feature each season, which interpret this facet of the brand’s identity in new and unexpected ways, such as the application of an austere hickory stripe fabric, or new detailing and pocket configurations. The aim of these garments is the same as that of the classics: to provide long-lasting functionality that can adapt to every wearer’s environment.
