Carhartt WIP rider Phil Zwijsen gave us a little insight into his favorite projects he did the last years.
It's a video part were we used Vincent Guillermin's art to make the video part a lil different than usual video parts. It was the first time I was really involved in a bigger project only about me. And something where I had a say on how it should look etc. I spend a lot of time with Paul Labadie filming in Barcelona and on other trips We linked up with Vincent and used his art in the video and the photos. Really stoked for that opportunity.
Being injured sucks and I guess every skateboarder goes through this time of not being able to skate. This happened to me so I took this opportunity to work more on my filming and I filmed my first video called Jacky. Its only filmed in Belgium and based on Jarne Verbruggen and everyone that skate with us. I was just going to film a part of Jarne and it ended up being a 17:00 minutes video.
After skating in the rain on a contest in Norway i tought to myself why not do a whole part in the rain, but instead of skating in the rain using the rain to do tricks. It took a lot of slams and a lot of freezing cold session, but in the end - with the big help of Davy, Sam, Guillaume, Yves and Jarne - we made it happen. Im really stoked on the result. Alex really let us do what ever we wanted.
It was a lot of work to land tricks at the same time, to be motivated at the same time, to come up with the idea,s but it was all worth it. Skating is really a solo thing so to skate with two and having to land tricks together it demands a lot of time and a lot patience. I’ve been skating with Jarne since we were kids so it made sense. This is probably my favorite one because it was all our ideas and it all worked out even better than we tought.
