Since a decade the festival brings exceptional music to Düsseldorf. During the years artists like DJ Koze, British pop poet Mike Skinner aka The Streets, the German Indie rock stars Tocotronic, House wizard Theo Parrish, cool British chart toppers Editors, The xx's rhythmic soul Jamie xx, North American border-crossers Beirut, rap legend Mos Def aka Yasiin Bey, critic favorite Dean Blunt, party orchestra Hercules and Love Affair or Indie rock dinosaurs like Dinosaur Jr came by to perform. This year's program features again a diverse range of music performed by artists that stand out. The festival will take place at idyllically located racecourse in the Grafenberg forest of Düsseldorf, the perfect location for an ideal summer festival, with three stages amid leafy surroundings.
On the main stage the UK pop group Metronomy will deliver hook-laden anthems, exceptional Indie rockers Death Cab For Cutie introduce their latest studio album Kintsugi, Norwegian funsters Kakkmaddafakka will show how deep winking rock entertainment can enthuse an audience and the US American quartet Future Brown will deliver experimental urban music that features a wide range of styles from US rap to UK grime, dancehall and reggaeton.
In contrast the Carhartt WIP stage offers sought-after artists that move you with a different kind of groove. Laurel Halo will play twisted rhythmic tracks that ask you out to dance. For those who are into intense rolling drum rhythms: Mark Ernestus and his Ndagga Rhythm Force come by and talk to you with drums. After the show Mark Ernestus will also plays a rare DJ set. For more future Afro influenced grooves Harmonious Thelonious presents his fictional Cuban Nightmare Band and Tolouse Low Trax celebrates a grinding funky drum machine hypnosis.
As always, the festival also takes care of the musical offspring. For those who want to see possible future headliners the young talent stage provides an insight into the next generation. For everyone who’s still not tired after a long festival day also two aftershow events take place. One party is held together with Edwin Jeans and takes place at legendary Salon Des Amateurs. Here French DJ Laurent Pastor, man behind the Astro Lab label, will play together with the club's residents. The other bash takes place at the Kunstakademie. Here the locally famed party promoters Haut & Knochen throw a party where odd house and techno call the tune.
