Get Familiar with Bullion and One-Handed Music
- Date published
While most within the music industry are crying instead of looking for answers to solve their current problems, there are a few others who “just do it”. They start a label and press good music they (the artists and the label owners) just like.
We at Carhartt love good music, too, and the dedicated people behind it. That’s why we would like to introduce to you British beat maker Bullion and also London-based label One-Handed Music, which released “Get Familiar” this week.
To simply categorize this double a-sided 7” vinyl as hip hop would be too constrictive. One can clearly hear that it is his foundation, and he is its offspring, but the way Bullion composes his tracks is way out there. Reading the spare credits on the backside of the cover you’ll take notice that none other than MJ Cole has done the mastering for this single. After hearing it one comes to the thinking it might be a good idea to work with non-hip hop artists to make sure to get back that sound to blast your head away.
Here’s what others had to say about it:
“Damn man, heavy again!” – Danny Breaks
“That Bullion guy is dope, love it.” – Phil Asher (Restless Soul, Various)
“After listening to the new Bullion joint, i drove back to Detroit, and punched my mom in the stomach. FILTHY.” – The Honorable DJ House Shoes (USA)
“This is someone I’m really feeling right now” – Gilles Peterson (BBC Radio 1)
“Get Familiar” is the 3rd 7”-vinyl we’re featuring within short days range on our site and we’re damn sure, it won’t be the last to come. So watch out, we’ll keep you posted.
You can cop your copy of the 7” at selected record stores and webshops all over Europe and as MP3 on iTunes or the One-Handed Music Webshop.
