The Hague: Rewire 2018
- Date published
It's Rewire time again – one of the most forward thinking festivals in the Netherlands. For eight years the three day happening in The Hague has united well known artists of the indie-rock, experimental and club culture spheres with underground, experimental musicians from around the globe.
This year’s edition again offers a world class line-up, featuring more than 100 acts, multidisciplinary performances, film screenings, artist-talks and workshops. On the bill are globally famed DJs like Nina Kraviz and JuJu & Jordash, alongside hot newcomers like Avalon Emerson, Karen Gwyer, and Jasss. Legends like US-American avant-garde artist, composer, musician and film director Laurie Anderson, and guitarist, singer and experimental composer Arto Lindsay, will also perform, as well as contemporary sound explorers like Elysia Crampton; fromer neo-trance, newly free jazz advocate James Holden & The Animal Spirits; synth wizard Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith; and Portland, Oregon duo Golden Retriever, who combine strong melodicism with an organic approach to experimental electronic sound.
For two nights, Carhartt WIP proudly presents a stage at this year’s edition, where artists such as Philadelphia-based multimedia artist MHYSA, UK double-drumming techno duo Ninos Du Brasil, New York DJs and producers Volvox and Umfang, one of modern music’s most elusive experimentalists, Visionist, who will perform with the Portuguese filmmaker and audio-visual artist Pedro Maia, local hero Yon Eta, and more.
Also – London boy Floating Points will play a rare solo live show and the krautrocking synth-infused Montreal-based band SUUNS will perform their brand new album, Felt, live. All of it will take place at multiple venues across the city centre of The Hague, from churches to old factories, abandoned spaces to institutional theatres and pop venues.
