It is happening again: Open Source Festival 2016 comes around with another program that stands out in terms of artist selection and sound variety. Headliner of this years bang are Hot Chip. The serious winking Brits perform their only German festival gig in Düsseldorf and will play heavy moving electro pop that makes you hop! Before they enter the scene, some hot Austrian and German acts will warm up the main stage. The Viennese band Bilderbuch delivers a massive live show of impressive Indie Rock enlarged with neologistic lyrics. Get Well Soon, the project of the German composer, singer and musician Konstantin Gropper, is a sought-after guest at festivals. Reason: he is a master in melancholy and performs it with mesmerizing arrangements and a heartfelt voice. And then there are Schnipo Schranke - two lovely singers from Hamburg, who do not mince matters and are blessed by a stage charisma that totally amaze.
Like each year the festival organizers do care for those who want to be close to the artists and feel intimacy, too. Again the Carhartt WIP stage is bringing newcomers and underground heroes together the cosy way. Here the London boy Gaika shows how modern dancehall, hip hop, grime and dubstep from outer space should sound. For traditional Jazz with an edge the Max Graef Band comes to the festival that is located on a horse racecourse and melts demanding rhythms, touching harmonies and twisted improvisations. Furthermore Düsseldorf's genius Stabil Elite perform their freshly released new album Spumante - probably the deepest cut in German pop music since ages that brings you style, romatizism and the art of poetry! In addition Oddisee and his fabulous band Good Compny will combine technically perfect Rap with a modern Jazz sound, that goes straight down to your legs. On top of that also all relaxation seekers get what they need when Wolf Müller & Cass. present their latest collaboration The Sound Of Glades and proof: we are in the new age of New Age.
