“We knew from the get-go that the complete freedom artist’s have in presenting themselves on the pages of our magazine is what counts the most and what now sets us apart from regular magazines. That, and the fact that we give the magazine out for free and still keep high quality. The words we usually use to describe it are: that Kontejner is a free transbalkan street magazine that is open to street culture. We like to think of it that it is a gallery for creativity in all sorts of genres: visual arts, photography, graffiti, comic strip art, writing/ poetry, music…. It is also a chronicle of all the things that are happening on the skate and BMX scene in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Serbia and Macedonia.
So far we put out 8 issues of this quarterly magazine and are currently sitting on special graffiti issue. Nowadays ads are hard to get by and so from that I can confirm you that the recession has hit the Balkans. But no worries. We are in recession from the day one and will find the way out of this one. Than it will be time for a photo issue and interview issue after that so as long there is enough enthusiasm, we will make it happen.”
