The year ran fast and it's already Week-End Festival time again. Cologne's finest three day music happening on the edge of Indie rock, dance, world and other strange but catchy sounds from beyond spared no effort in welcoming again a bunch of unique bands and musicians. Istanbul's finest Baba ZuLa will perform one of their touching shows, in which belly dancing, theatre, painting and sound merge into total audiovisual experiences. For more world sounds the Niger based female trio Les Filles de Illighadad comes to Cologne to present their tender, yet tremendously powerful acoustic songs. This year's biggest festival adventure will be the show of Lambchop. The band from Nashville, Tennessee will present Flotus, their new and surprising electronic album. On it, songwriter and mastermind Kurt Wagner devotes himself for the first time to his secret love: electronic music. For WEEK-END, Kurt Wagner will, with the help of six local electronic musicians, dissect all eleven new songs from his latest LP into their component parts and re-arrange them with his local musical assistants. The results will be performed live in this line-up for the first and only time.
As if that were not enough, there will also performances by the New York City band The Julie Ruin, the avant-garde pop band Slapp Happy, who will play their first concert in 16 years and get accompanied for this rare occasion by Krautrock legends Faust. Furthermore UK's great avant-garde hip hop, dubstep and breakbeat trio Babyfather will bedazzle their audience and the country-psych-pop band Surface To Air Missive from Tallahassee, USA will deliver psychedelic atmospheres.
