I went to Münster Monster Mastership, the Wembley comp in London, to Radlands in Northampton and a few years later to the Scandinavian Open in Copenhagen. Those comps were some great ones where all the top pros were in attendance either skateboarding or in the bars around town. We had Mark Gonzales, Mike Carrol. Rick Howard, John Cardiel, Phil Shao, Tom Penny, Chad Muska, Eric Koston, Ed Templeton, Danny Way to name a few. It was something special to see all your favorite skateboarders in real life even if it was just them having a beer.
This years CPH PRO was a little bit like the good old days. A few of skateboardings biggest names mixed with the new top pros from all over the world made the event something really special. A nice and exciting new street course was built for the event that included some sick obstacles with lots of nice little details that made up for some very interesting skateboarding. Some of the skaters were sticking to the rails and the gap while others cruised the course and made the most of all the fun little things that were spread around the park. Standouts for me were Eric Koston who can do whatever he wants on a skateboard, Pontus Alv who ripped the course like nobody else, John Rattray that ripped in the same manner as Pontus and Matt Beach that always is a pleasure to watch.
CPH PRO had all the right ingredients to be a successful event. Beautiful Copenhagen with its beers, women and Christiania, a supergood skatepark run by some great and dedicated people and the cooperation with the Tampa crew that guaranteed a great event attracting people from all over the world to participate and have a good time. The free beers helped too of course….
Thanks for a great time and hope to be there next year as well. (Nils Svensson)
