Accra born-singer Rob Roy Reindorf is one of the most enigmatic artists to come out of West-Africa. His influences, which include American artists such as Otis Redding, James Brown and Ray Charles, led him to studying piano, before releasing his first two albums Funky Rob Way and Make it Fast, Make it Slow, backed by the band Mag-2. But after early local success slowed down, when Afrobeat and Disco Boogie turned big by the early 1980s, the cosmic funk czar opened a restaurant called The Chicken Pepper in Accra, where he has remained to this day.
In 2012, the British label Soundway reissued his second album, and Frankfurt-based Analog Africa, as well as the legendary Britsh imprint Mr Bongo, brought his first album back to the stores. The success of these re-releases has propelled him onto to his first ever European tour, supported by Carhartt WIP, bringing the Ghanaian cosmic funk brother and his band to the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and more. Come by, dance the night away and watch a real funkateer get lost in music.
