Brilliant idea, great implementation: since 2016 Düsseldorf's socio-cultural center Zakk celebrates an extraordinary festival called Lieblingsplatte. Each year the hosts invite bands who contributed essentially to the German pop music history and ask them to play one specific, iconic album of their oeuvre from A-Z. This year, the Düsseldorf punk icons Male will present Zensur & Zensur - a record that is regarded as the first German punk album ever. Also from Düsseldorf, the band Kreidler presents Mosaik - their perhaps most elegant crafted record from the year 2014. With Musique Automatique the French-German duo Stereo Total introduces their fifth studio album - a record full of party hits like Wir Tanzen Im 4-Eck or Exakt Neutral. More indie-rock comes from the legendary Hamburg based band Die Sterne, who will perform their third album Posen, a milestone for the so called Hamburger Schule movement. Also, hiphop is billed as RAG - a band once formed in Bochum - will present their 1998 album Unter Tage, which is considered as one of the best Ruhrgebiet rap albums of all times.
