Carhartt WIP proudly presents the 3rd installment of the carefully curated Meakusma Festival. Hosted in the small town of Eupen in Belgium, the festival is spread over three days from the 7th until the 9th of September, and filled with some of the finest names in forward-thinking music, as well as a number of unknown smaller acts with promising futures.
The line-up features in-demand DJs from the odd side of the electronic and dance music culture, like the esoteric Ben UFO, the Ukrainian house-and-beyond producer Vakula, Hivern Discs’ boss John Talabot, as well as Lena Willikens, Jon K, and Stefan Goldmann. For live action, legendary experimental musician Asmus Tietchens will perform, as will Hey-O-Hansen, Jay Glass Dubs, and Berlin’s mighty Al Chem, who will roll out his psychedelic drone trips for the Belgian audience. From Hamburg, Meakusma Records’ artist Giraffe will provide modern classics dressed up in electronic improvisation, and the always-resonant Shackleton will play his percussive, bass-laden tunes.
Furthermore, rising neo-classic star Andrea Belfi, Cabaret Voltaire founding-member Chris Watson and free jazz legend Peter Brötzmann will be on stage. Similar to previous years, the German department of Dublab radio will be on hand to broadcast every minute of action over the three days, spotlighting up-and-coming and established artists, such as Phillip Jondo, Nosedrip and Kemal of Berceuse Heroique.
The action is rounded off with lectures, film screenings, local food and the marvelous local nature of the High Fens reserve. Make sure you don't miss this unique, culturally-driven gathering if you are about. This is one for listeners and those who like to dive consciously into the music.
