Munich: cowbell driven Pop glamour

May 10, 2011

We rarely write a puff piece but the debut longplayer Earthly Powers of the Munich based band Pollyester have the potential to be a future classic.

Upcoming Saturday the charismatic duo fete their record release on Permanent Vacation with a perfomance at the flashy club Kong. The right place for music that is home somewhere in between Stereolab, Les Rita Mitsouko, Siouxsie Siuox, The Slits, Can, Chrisma, and Nico.

With analogue strength, tribal rhythms, and plenty of catchy melodies Pollyester dance between energetic Krautrock, string-laden Disco galaxies, and dark touching New Wave atmospheres. Above their kaleidoscopic arrangements the nonchalant voice of Polina Lapkovskaja aka Polly tells surreal mantra-esque poems that easily loop in your head forever.

If their psychedelic Pop approach works on stage only as half as touching as on their record we promise a mind-expanding night full of bewitching entertainment that makes you feel love and dance, dance, dance … .
