Retrospect: Carhartt presents Aloe Blacc Europe Tour 2010

November 01, 2010

Last year in London on a snowy winter day, we sat down with our friends from Stones Throw to listen to some of the label’s upcoming music….

…and there was him, Aloe Blacc , his wonderful anthem I need a Dollar and other great first drafts for his upcoming album Good Things . We fell in love with his music immediately and started working on a cooperation to enable this new Soul Preacher to present his songs live in Europe. During the days of preparation here and there people started singing I need a Dollar and many major music magazines around Europe reviewed his long-player enthusiastically.
Finally late September came closer and soon Aloe and his freshly formed band The Grand Scheme arrived in Amsterdam to kick off their Europe tour at the good old Paradiso. First the band was supposed to play in the small hall, but the rush was so big that the hosts changed the venue into the big mainhall where the packed tour kick-off was celebrated with an emotional thrilling performance.
Immediately Aloe Blacc took Europe by storm, played sold out shows around France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, and the UK and improved with every new live performance. Also The Grand Scheme grew and injected his songs with the right touching melodies and rhythms a man like Aloe needs to make the most out of his soulful singing talent.
Accompanying Aloe Blacc on his Europe tour, Schiko documented his shows in Amsterdam, Paris, Cologne, and London where zealous Europeans celebrated his music. He took the hearts in the blink of an eye while spreading out Soul, full of social and emotional content.
To say thank you to everybody who came around to dance and party with Aloe are giving away a free download of the beautiful track Dark End of the Street, recorded exclusively for Carhartt by Aloe Blacc & The Grand Scheme .
The song is part of a of a Soul compilation of the same name that you still might find in a Carhartt Store near you!
